Cline Pinot Noir Sonoma County 2018 ($22) – Fermented in stainless steel then gently aged in oak, this Pinot Noir delivers all the expected characteristics of Sonoma County terrior:  bright raspberry and strawberry flavors, medium body, and overtones of chocolate and purple flowers on the midpalate.  Well priced.  WW 89

La Crema Pinot Noir 40th Anniversary Russian River Valley 2018 ($100) – Premium priced version of La Crema’s popular Pinot, sourced from the Russian River Valley.

Mi Sueño Cabernet Sauvignon Mount Veeder 2016 ($95) – The Mt. Veeder region on the east side of Napa Valley is a premium winegrowing area, and the Mi Sueno represents it very well.  Bright fruit on the nose, including black cherry and blackberry, with hits of mocha and coffee.  It spent 20 months in barrel, which imparts flavors of vanilla, oak, and caramel, with a pleasant balance of acidity.  WW 95

Cline Pinot Gris Sonoma Coast 2018 ($12) – Great for summer sipping.  Very straightforward flavor profile of citrus and pear.  Unoaked, so the acidity and fruit flavors really come through.  WW 87

Cuttings Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2017 ($35) – Another interesting blend from the Prisoner Wine Company:  Mostly Cabernet, with Petite Sirah, Syrah, and Zinfandel for a mouthfilling, full-bodied experience.  You’ll expect – and receive – loads of black fruit with overtones of coffee, vanilla, cinnamon, and cassis.  Huge.  WW 92

Charles Krug Generations Red Blend Napa Valley 2014 ($55) – A Bordeaux blend of Cabernet, Petit Verdot, Merlot, and Malbec with concentrated black cherry, blueberry, and notes of fresh roasted coffee.  The deep structure nicely supports the relatively high alcohol content.  Well balanced.  WW 90

Shannon Ridge Ovis Cabernet Sauvignon Round Mountain Vineyard 2016 ($58) – Fermented in barrels and aged for 30 months, this deftly balanced Cabernet offers opulent aromas of dried cherry and cranberry, with hints of bitter chocolate.  Brooding on the palate with notes of cherry, oak, nuts, and cassis.  WW 89-90

Shannon Ridge Ovis Petite Sirah Betsy’s Vineyard 2016 ($60) – Harvested from 30-year-old vines, generous aromas of black fruit, including blackberry and plum.  These flavors are tinged with notes of chocolate and tobacco, with hints of cinnamon on the persistent finish.  WW 89-90
